Healthy Life

In order to live a long healthy life, it is very important that we try to stay in the best shape as possible, but this is not always the reality. There can be many reasons for putting on weight; it could be due to hormones, genetics, diet, lifestyle, or lack of exercise. Whatever the reason it is important to understand just how excess body fat can hurt your health so that you can be fully motivated to shed a few pounds.

When you were younger, you were probably in great shape. You probably remember having a ton of energy and a great body. It was effortless back then, but as you age you need to put more of an effort into maintaining your ideal weight and energy levels.

It is not uncommon to find that by the time we reach our mid to late twenties we are already beginning to put on weight and lose energy. The earlier in life that we add excess fatty tissue to our body’s mass the more serious the health consequences will be.

To begin with there is the mental issues related to being over weight. Today we are constantly bombarded by images of perfectly beautifully men and women that have slim figures. If we are even just a stone heavier than the average weight for our height we can become very self conscious and develop a low self esteem. It is never nice to be thought of as fat or large. Once your weight starts to make you feel depressed it can be a slippery slope to get your confidence back.

There are other obvious problems that come with being overweight. You will feel out of breath more quickly and will have a lot less energy. If you try to exercise or do an outdoor activity then it will be more difficult for you at first. The added mass can also cause problems for the joints as there will be a greater weight that they have to support.

Depending upon how obese you are, you may suffer from sores and chafes as the excess skin can rub together and cause irritation. This will result in you having to use ointments and lotions to bring relief from the discomfort. In the folds of skin it is also possible to develop bacterial and fungal infections as the body will contain a greater amount of waste products and toxins that need to be removed.

But there are certain healths problems associated with excess weight that can be severe or even deadly. It is known that people who are obese are more likely to suffer from heart disease. This is due to the greater stress the heart is under and also the arteries of an individual who is overweight are likely to be more hardened and clogged. The chances of having a heart attack or stroke are massively increased if you are overweight.

In addition to heart problems, studies are now finding that excess weight can contribute to a myriad of illness including diabetes, gall bladder disease, gout, osteoarthritis, sleep apnea and fatty liver disease.

The Health Risks Of Belly Fat

Aside from the low self esteem and frustration that having excess belly fat brings, carrying those extra pounds has many other dangers and disadvantages. The health risks of belly fat are numerous and they will always remain as threats to your overall well-being if you don’t do something about your weight as soon as you possibly can.

One of the health risks of belly fat is that people with excess belly fat have an increased risk of heart disease. Heart disease is one of the major killers in the United States, Canada, England and many other counties.

Now, in general, being overweight gives you a higher risk of heart disease, but belly fat (or he visceral fat around the organs in the abdomen)  in particular is problematic according to a study done on mice at the University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center which found a direct correlation between inflammation around the visceral fat cells and atherosclerosis or hardening of the arteries.  This makes belly fat particularly dangerous.

Another risk that is associated with being overweight is diabetes. Diabetes is often hereditary but you can significantly decrease the chances of you contracting this disease by keeping your weight in control. Having extra pounds causes a disturbance in the normal insulin production which results to a higher level of blood sugar and consequently, diabetes.

Hypertension is also closely associated with people who are overweight. Also referred to as high blood pressure, this hypertension is often called the “silent killer” because many people don’t even know they have it. Hypertension can lead to stroke, heart attack, aneurysm, heart failure, renal failure among many other problems.

Belly fat also causes an increased risk of contracting cancer. Some of the types of cancer which is closely associated with obesity includes colon, prostate, kidney, endometrial and post-menopausal breast cancer. This is again related to the visceral fat around your abdominal organs which is present in larger amounts with people who have excess belly fat.

Getting Rid of That Unsightly Belly Fat

The Truth About Belly Fat And How To Get Rid Of It

Most people feel that belly fat is unsightly and it can also be unhealthy if left unattended. Luckily, you can get rid of your belly fat and restore your good looks and good health. It may take some extra effort and a regular routine in order to make belly fat a thing of the past, but it can be done. A few ways to go about eliminating this extra weight around your middle are discussed below.

People often put on an extra spare tire for a number of reasons; middle-age, pregnancy, too many beers, or from living the life of a potato; the couch variety. Belly fat can often be lost when taking part in a regular weight loss program, this program doesn’t have to be geared specifically towards belly fat to work. Like with any extra weight, losing belly fat requires eating less and exercising more.

Eating healthier is often a great way to begin shrinking your belly. Cutting out excessive amounts of fat, sugar, and even foods such as dairy products and bread is a good start.

A diet that consists of whole grains, low-fat dairy, lots of fruits and vegetables, and fish and leaner meats will show great results in weight loss. This diet is also better for your overall health and will go a long way to insuring you have the vitamins and nutrients you need. Consuming more whole grains and fewer carbs keeps less fat from being stored.

Exercising is great for the body and the more muscle that is present, the higher your metabolism is and the more calories you use even while you are resting. As more calories are burned, less fat is stored on the body. It will take more than just exercising though, this has to be combined with a proper diet as well. Otherwise, hundreds of daily crunches can be performed without any sign of belly fat loss. People who choose to take part in some highly intense aerobic exercises often seem to be thinner around the middle.

Too much belly fat increases the risk of serious health issues, especially heart problems. Other health hazards include diabetes, hardening of the arteries, and even metabolic syndrome. So, it is in your best interest to get rid of that spare tire not only so that you can feel good about how you look but also so that you can maintain your health and energy levels.  Maintaining a balanced and calorie-controlled diet, plus adding in some exercise at least for 30 minutes a day, can greatly reduce and even eliminate body fat.
